Her work, whether portrait or abstraction, is defined by atmosphere, color, and an expression that speaks to the viewer and invites dialogue - a quality she finds essential to art. She works with existing paintings, layering in her own abstractions, and incorporates sewing and embroidery into the surfaces. All works are presented in leather frames.
About
She began in the 1990s, where she trained in decorative painting by Ellinor Nielsen, decorating cabinets and chests with traditional patterns from the National Museum. For a period of five years, she taught decorative painting in evening classes, but her growing interest in a wide range of artistic disciplines led her to further her education. She went to study at Birthe Jarlbæk’s painting school, focusing on floral subjects and figuration.
Over time, she has remained curious about working across different media and exploring new ways to develop painting, both in naturalistic and abstract forms. In her abstract work, the tools of painting play a significant role in shaping the outcome, bringing color and graphic elements into focus. She leaves the narrative of each piece open, inviting the viewer to interpret and become an active participant in the work.
