About
Martin Munch is a Danish contemporary artist whose practice grew out of a long career in fashion and brand culture, including co-founding the iconic label Punk Royal. Today, he channels that same raw, independent spirit into painting, working instinctively and hands-on, guided more by energy than perfection.
At the center of his universe is the yellow bird — a recurring character that appears across his works like a restless alter ego. Curious, bold, and slightly rebellious, the bird moves through his compositions as a symbol of freedom, fragility, and resilience.
Painting primarily on recycled cardboard and everyday materials, Martin Munch turns the overlooked into something vibrant and alive. Rough textures, loose brushstrokes, and punchy colors give the works an immediate, expressive quality, where the material itself becomes part of the story — a quiet reflection on consumption, reuse, and finding beauty in what already exists.
The result is art that feels direct, playful, and unapologetically human — with the yellow bird leading the way.
